🍁🍂Happy Canadian Thanksgiving🍂🍁
I feel like life is always going 1000 miles an hour and we don’t take enough time to really appreciate what we have! Today especially, let’s reflect & be thankful! I’m Thankful for my Family, my Husband, my Friends, my Baby Max🐶❤ and my Health!! 6 months ago Today, I started The LakeHouse Kitchen simply to share some of my favourite recipes with you all. I’ve learned so much through others, about myself & met so many new friends! So, I’m especially Thankful for that this year and for all of you😘.
Now, something else that I’m Thankful for… is this Apple Cider Bourbon Sour!!! I mean, what’s a Holiday without a good cocktail am I right? My go to Cocktail is 9/10 a Whiskey Sour (or Bourbon Sours, love them both). I love it, it’s fresh but warms you up at the same time! When the Holiday Season rolls around, I’m always trying to find a way to add a little twist to my favourite classic!
I decided to go with Bourbon for this one because it pairs great with the Apple Cider and Cinnamon Simple Syrup! I’m sure Whiskey would be delicious in this as well so feel free to swap for which ever you have on hand!! 100% of the time I’m making/ordering a Whiskey Sour I want the egg white in there to make it nice and frothy! For this one, I felt like it didn’t really need it but you could totally add it, it’s up to you!
Cinnamon Simple Syrup: Easy Peasy! One cup white granulated sugar, one cup water and 5-6 cinnamon sticks. Let it steep for about 30 minutes. Remove the cinnamon sticks (let them dry and use them as a garnish). Let the simple syrup cool and store in the fridge until ready to use!! You can make it in advance it will keep in the fridge for up to a month.
This makes 1 cocktail, double or triple as needed!
1.5 – 2 Ounce of your favourite Bourbon
1 Ounce Apple Cider
1 Ounce Freshly squeezed Lemon Juice
1 Ounce Cinnamon simple syrup
Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
Cinnamon sticks, apple slices, freshly grated nutmeg for garnish
Combine the Bourbon, Apple Cider, Lemon Juice , fresh nutmeg and Cinnamon Simple Syrup in a cocktail shaker with some ice. Serve it up over ice in a nice Whiskey glass with a cinnamon stick garnish or straight up in a coupe with a thin apple slice.
Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving surrounded by your loved ones, lots of delicious food and this Bourbon Sour😏!
One last thing I’m forever Thankful for is our trip to Italy! So this year, I’m saving the Turkey Dinner for Christmas and I’m making one of our favourite recipes from our trip, Pear & Ricotta Ravioli in Sage Brown Butter🤤🤤. It’s as delicious as it sounds!! Should I make it on the Blog? Let me know in the comments😍
